What I've got to say that's worth putting on a blog...
Greetings and Salutations! My name is Carla May, I hail from the infamous city of Rock Springs in the great state of Wyoming. To tell you a bit about me, I am going to school at Western Wyoming Community College and was a homeschool graduate prior to that. My passions are my friends and family, and to learn about my interests, well... you'll have to view my profile! ^_^
I am starting this blog because I realized that I have a lot to say, but only a limited audience that will sick around long enough to get everything said! What can one do? Start a blog, said I! What all can little ol’ me have to say? Quite a bit. This is a beautiful world we all live in, if you take the time to look, and I have something to say about that. This is a complex culture we live in as well, from high culture of books and art to popular culture of music and movies, and I have something to say about that, too. There are many people around also, and I hope to perhaps share their stories if I can, and mine as well.
That will be the point of my blog, but the main focus and driving force behind it is my Christian beliefs, telling my story as it is part of God’s grand story for all of us. This story is as much about you as it is about me, and I was called to go into all the world to share it. But how, God? I wondered. The world is so big. It feels like a large and scary place, with frightening powers beyond our control or even influence at war and one wonders how on earth can I possibly go there to preach God’s good news? And when did this world get so big? Well, I have this theory that our world is actually much smaller than we think. When we were young, our world was only as far as the fence in the back yard, or the sign at the end of the block. But slowly, almost undetectably, our world grew as we grew. As soon as we were able to influence the outmost regions of our world, suddenly it expanded, opening up new horizons and opportunities. Like a series of circles, to borrow in reverse what Anthony Hopkins told Antonio Banderas in Mask of Zorro, as our circles will expand farther and farther to the ends of the earth. I have come to think of this as following the concept of “he who is faithful in the little things will also be faithful in the big things.” God opens up our world for us as we are able so He can use us. And so here I am, expanding my world one person farther as you read this.
So what am I here to say, aside from my views on life, love, movies and peoples? That even though we are a fallen peoples and none of us deserves it, God had mercy on us and sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us and take our punishment but also conquer death, that we may live "an abundant life” with Him. So here I go, blogging away. Feel free to join me or check in from time to time!
