Style Watch

I hate summer. It really is my least favorite season. In the spring, when you start getting advertisements for shorts, I don't get excited, I just get angry. Summer brings heat and sweat; you have to wear less clothes, which forces you to show your figure, or lack thereof, along with cellulite and no-tan; too tight of tops that are torturous when you sweat; bugs; relentless heat; sunburns; greasy sunscreen so you can't wear makeup... on and on. The only thing I really don't mind about summer is sandals; sandals are cute. In all honesty, though, this summer has not been that bad at all. Perhaps it was the travel and the fact that I actually took my time to enjoy it. Anyway, I will be sorry to see it end next week when my school starts up again at WWCC. It is hard to believe that it is already that time of year again.

The good news is that along with school comes cooler weather and clothes that I actually like. I am happy to see that there is not a huge gap between the new fall fashions and what I have in my closet. It looks like we are saying goodbye to the romantic frills and furbaloughs (which is good; while I love them, they don't love my figure) and embracing cleaner cut lines and stripes are the new floral (which is good; I get along with stripes for the most part). However, there is an outside chance that the 80s are trying to come back with the layers, leggings, and neon colors, and this must not happen! 80's bad... 80's bad. Grey is the new black it looks like, and that means that the earth-tone colors are still in (which are my favorite). Ponchos may be on their way out, but soft and cuddly sweaters are still in, especially cardigans. Yay! And I am very happy to see that for shoes, flats are still in as I prefer them to amost any platforms or heels (and I'm keeping my Ugg boots, reguardless). I may have to update my wardrobe with a pair of skinny jeans and leggings, and since I borrowed Emily's pair of Converse's so much last year I think I'll break down and buy my own. The really good news is that class and good taste is always in! My A-line skirts and dresses and my best pairs of jeans and choinos will never to out of style!

I had intended on appologizing to my male reader for this entry, but then I realized that most of my friends are male, so there are probably quite a few of them. And then I realized that my sister and my best girlfriend both aren't as into clothes as I am. So sorry peoples. I just needed to post. And to those that truely are in the fashion loop like I could only dream, if I got anything wrong or you have more to add, let me know.

In the meantime, I have some shopping to do.

Whoa... the vast majority of the terms and topics in that blog just shot clean over my spiky little head. I never fully realized how greatly fashion trends get bucked around from one to the next in a matter of mere months or even weeks!

Not sure if cooler weather is a good thing when you live in Wyoming, like we do. Unless by cooler you mean "more unbelievably freezing cold than the last winter." ;) Glad to hear that you're able to wear the clothes that you love the most again, though!

No apology necessary for the post, though. It was very fun and enlightening to read. :) After all, it is I who should be apologizing to you for having you read all my music-based rantings and ravings, which you can only smile and nod at. ;) If you gotta' post it, you gotta' post it and it was a very fun little read. :)

Hello again Honey,
This is Not Carla. I agree with you 100% about stupid summer clothes. You can't layer! That drives me crazy! And you only have two options: Look skanky or fry!
Okey dokey. See you around the house!
Emily :D

Josh...you don't have a spiky head...you'd do better to compare it to springs.

Cartilage, my dear, shall I impart my wisdom to you? When summer comes and it's time to bust out shorts, tank tops, and tan lines, I pretend like I'm sporting a fashion style of my own in all my un-stylish glory. ;)Flabby whiteness is IN, baby. :D
